Amanda explains how 足球电子竞技直播在线(足球电子竞技积分下载v5.10版) helped her choose a career and what her job at Globe Locums involves
How did you get your job?
I spoke to a university careers adviser and she advised me to sign up to 足球电子竞技直播在线(足球电子竞技积分下载v5.10版) where I took a short test to find jobs that match my experience and degree. I had no idea what I wanted to do but my online results suggested that recruitment was the best fit so I applied for the position of trainee recruitment consultant.
What does a typical day involve?
A general day in the office involves speaking with clients and candidates via email and over the phone. You will always work in a team of around three to five other consultants to place skilled candidates and fill jobs. Outside of the office can involve visiting managers in their department to help understand their requirements, taking candidates out to lunch/drinks to build strong relationships and the occasional conference. Conferences are a fun way to build new connections while spending time with your team for a few days usually in a different part of the country.
How has your role developed?
I have worked for Globe for three and a half years and within that time I have progressed from trainee, to consultant to senior consultant. I have happily taken on more responsibilities starting small by writing blogs for the company, then training other members of the team and now with the support of the directors/managers I am looking to start a new division which I hope has great success.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I love hearing candidates that I have placed into an assignment express their love for the job. In this environment, which can often be fast paced, having a strong and supportive team around you makes a big difference and at Globe this will always be at the forefront.
What are the most challenging parts of your job?
Recruitment is often fast paced and therefore things can change very quickly, whether that be the duties of a job you’re trying to fill or a change in a candidates availability. Adapting to these changes efficiently can be difficult but, when grasped, can become your biggest asset.
What are the best things about working in this sector?
Recruitment can be rewarding when you help candidates find their ideal job but also for your own self development. Your role as a recruitment consultant will see you work alongside a team yet on a day to day basis you will be autonomous in how to prioritise your workload. The efficiency of how you manage your day will be the key to having a successful career with plenty of rewards and new opportunities.
What advice would give to others who would like to get into recruitment?
I would highly recommend a career in recruitment for those who are struggling to know exactly what path they want to go into. Recruitment can be a field of opportunity and branches across many different industries. There is ample support should a different path be of interest as progression of the employee is always the priority.
